Musing :: Style : MAC Shy Girl

If you know me well you know that I really only wear very bright lipsticks. It's one of the reasons I love MAC lipsticks; their pigments are bright and consistent. This lipstick that is the subject of my post today, though it is the lightest shade i still have come to love. Today I wanted to talk about as nude in lipstick as I think I will ever go and that's with the creamsheen shade that MAC Shy Girl.

When I first bought it and tried it on I will admit I almost regret my decision; That's because I had no idea it was going to be so pale looking against my complexion, usually because of my albinisms all pigments shine bright but this time that was not the case.

Shy Girl is definitely appropriately named, it is really creamy and has an ever so slight shine to it. I often wear it on the days I feel lazy and don't want to do much by way of lipstick but have enough energy to put in a little effort. Most call it the 'natural' look I suppose.

It isn't a nude but has a slight orange tone to it, keeping it fun and peppy without effort.  I think it's the perfect blend of peachy plus beige with an ever slight touch of shimmer. If Shy Girl could be a television character I feel like it would be that typecast girl next door.

I will admit, creamy as it is I usually have to swash it on my lips a good four times both ways for me to have a fairly noticeable tint. If I'm only going for barely there twice will do just fine and create an opaque, barely there colour. The longevity is good too, I don't usually have need to reply unless I want a brighter go of things or my day extends past 8-3. Which I think is fair because then I would be going from dayware to eveningware anyway.

Before Mac Shy Girl I was considering getting Crème Cup but now this notion is no more. I've warmed up to Shy Girl well, it is relaxed, calm and comfortable.

Musing :: Style : MAC Cyber

This time last year not only did I know little to nothing about lipstick, I didn't even own any. I got the chance to try one on here and there, while doing a little research but in August of last year a friend's girlfriend who is a make up artist brought her stash and showed them to me then gave me a bit of an introduction to the MAC brand.

Ladies and gentlemen my mind was blown. When I tried on St. Germane I knew I was a MAC convert. Since then I've had so many reviews in the works (notice how everything is in the works? Ah the university education life)

So to commemorate I thought I'd share with you the boldest MAC colour I've ever purchased.

We've no MAC store here nor do they take international orders so getting your hands on one is no easy task.

I have no idea what made me want to buy this. I suppose after getting comfortable with colours like St. Germain and Morange I was ready to step out on a limb. I actually expected this colour to be black but I'm glad it's actually a rich purple as this is a shade I would never have otherwise tried.

(Do my eyes freak you out? Mission accomplished.)

It takes me back to my punk style days only a braver version. Cyber is ridiculously bold on me but dark colours usually are. It is a sheen and shine well it does, like another of my favourites Girl About Town. Cyber keeps average ware but, just like Girl about town (the colour i wore in my vlog) I have to remember not to put my hands anywhere near my lips, this is not a matte lippie ladies. Which, is fine by me as I love the shine of this type of lipsticks.

I my only complaint is that It seems to take forever to apply a smooth truly dark shade. As I'm sure you can see from my picture. This is almost three apply and press  ( what i call it) for me and I was starting to feel like I was pasting it since I wasn't going out. I like my lipsticks very dark when on most days, the contrast against my none pigmented skin is fierce in my eyes, so when it takes forever to build the dark shade I see in the tube I become annoyed. I'm sure when I do wear this out I will take the time need to apply it nice and dark but you'll have to wait for that occasion much like I am doing if you want to see it warn darker?

I think it was a good choice for the spot of boldest lipstick I ever owned and I love how MAC lipsticks, much like many other lipsticks tend to vary slightly in look according to ones complexion so there is also that fact if you're thinking about purchasing it.

I cant wait for the perfect occasion and the perfect amount of courage to line with each other so I can step outside of my comfort zone and ware this colour!

I suppose that is what has changed most about me from then till now; I've tried so many new, bold, things that I never thought I would! For so many this is just an odd lipstick. For me, this is an odd change and a reminder that I am a bold spirit able to work it to my advantage. Last year you would have never caught me even considering wearing this colour outside of my house.

Of course there are the bigger changes, like the dense realisations within my spiritual life but you'll hear more about that in my first ever Coffee Date post on Tuesday!

Musing :: Style : MAC St. Germain Lipstick & Albinism Skin

Review: Creamy, smells so very good, as MAC lippies tend to i hear. When applied lightly i has a soft , feminine feel to it. When applied with two or if you're more daring three coats it really POPS! (not seen here) This is only one light coat.  The pigment is really strong and it gives me a good 1-14 our wear before i feel like reaplying

Albinism spectific review: I love it! because my skin is so light the pink is all the richer against it and just seems perfect. The pigmentation does not fade into skin tone but stands nicely of its own.

This shade is my lipstick soul mate. I knew it, it was love at first sight when a friend introduced me to it. From that moment, i knew, we had to be together. I added albinism in my title because i know that lipstick shades look different on every completion. So, when looking up reviews i really wondered what it would look like against my own none pigmented skin. I figured i am not the only person with albinism that was wondering that. So! Here we are :) I admit i was so excited though i didn't even base balm. Plus how do you get your heart to take swashes of your favorite lipstick? This is a super light swash because i greedily didn't want to waste even the tiniest bit. I promise, with time i will learn haha

We do not have MAC products on the caribbean island where i live. So, i had to outsource via a very kind gal who was going down to the island of Trinidad for a few days. My intention was to get another lipsticks as well but the other shade i was targeting was not available at the time she went and would only be restocked after she left. :(

However i do not intend to give up! i intend to someday own every shade on my MAC Lipstick Wishlist. I'm not going to lie though, till then, owning just St Germain? Is the sweetest deal.
