You can catch me wearing this often. I'm quite annoyed it came out so light in this photo.This my friends is MAC Girl About Town and it fits just like it sounds. It goes on smooth, has a slightly gloosy look nut a more creamy formula feel. Girl about town is bold but a bit dark. It cannot be ignored. It's feisty enough for a night on the town (thus the name I imagine) but classy enough for a black tie event, if you dare to be that striking.

I love it and am considering wearing it for my graduation day.

I don't usually wear dresses but when I do I like to do it my way. The problem with that is my way isn't always catered to because the most that is seen is the conventional way. Story of our lives right?

Musing :: Style : Live A Rare Life

 This outfit is on of the first I wore when I retuned to the big apple after the NOAH Conference. Both this shirt and the bag came from an organisations showcasing at the conference. The shirt came from the HPS network. HPS is a strain of albinism that usually comes with dangerous organ complications, mainly that of the lung.

The bag was made by a mother of a person with albinism or a person with albinism in Tanzania. It was also given to me as a gift by one of my new close friends whom I met at the conference. Since I heard about the situation in Tanzania I really wanted to help some how but I couldn't figure out how or in what way. This was a fantastic way to provide aid in a way that encourages independence and leaves me feeling satisfied on my end that my money is both going to a good cause and I'm getting a great product out of it. Not that the product part is necessary but hey it's always a great incentive!

I love the message on this shirt don't you? It encourages to examine ourselves and the life we lead. It tells us that life is not only worth living but worth living in an extraordinary way. This summer really taught me that and I hope to never forget it.

Musing :: Style : Sweepin' the Clouds Away

 Remember how I said I kind of lived in dresses when I was on vacation? Well, here is one of them and do I ever love it! Turns out, is even reminiscent of Luna Lovegood which I only recently found out but only makes me love it more!

This dress is very summer, it is flared, it is floral but bright against a dark blue which happens to be one of my favourite shades. It also fits nicely. I love a dress that fits just on the knee or just below it as that's what makes me feel most comfortable.

I made many memories in this dress, particularly going to the Newyorican Poets Cafe and bible study at one of the New York branches of my church.

Musing :: Style : What's Wrong With Being Confident?

 Confession: I don't usually wear shorts in my country. I'm not a person who lavishes public attention. All the more because I'm always getting whether I like it or not. I often try to explain to people that it's one thing to be looked at when you want to be but when you look like I do, when you are outside of the norm, you don't get a choice. Eyes are on you whether you want them to be or not. Whether you are having a good day or a bad one. Everybody has days when they do not want to be seen and usually, you can get away with it. I never have a day when I can get away with such a thing.

Being a person who has people scream things at her no matter the mood or the time or the circomstance I don't often find myself in situations that would encourage it if I can help it. I'm a nice gal but I don't always want to discuss with you or defend or explain or justify why I look the way I do.

That being said, one of the reasons I love New York is that because I have lived a life of always being seen, when I go to such a big city I can disappear and I actually love that! I love the ability to be about my own business without interference. While in New York there was a heat wave and there was no way I was leaving the house in jeans. I pretty much lived in dresses and shorts. I was not over sexualised because of that fact or aggressively approach by person after person demanding that I explain my choices to them.

I was just girl beating the heat in whether appropriate clothing.

Musing Style :: Sweatshirt Wishlist

I've come to realise that I have no proper sweat shirt to get on the plane and keep worm. I am a person who always feels cold and I figured this would be a good time to rectify the situation. Also, I thought it would be great fun to add a little bookish to the mix because why not?

I admit I got a little distracted...as seen by the fact that not every shirt above is a sweat shirt but ah bookish wit gets me so smirky haha. I have one in mind but which do you think I should choose for my trio? Check this link out for more bookish wit!

Musing :: Style : Mint Chocolate

My country is in the midst of is third Chocolate Festival. I was privileged to be reading poetry at art exhibit associated with the event this year at the Susan Mains Gallery. It was wonderful to be surrounded by art and culture where the prime focus is the survival and celebration of one of my favourite things in the world.

This year I got to try iced cocoa tea, rum punch, stewed chicken with a chocolate sauce and of course this lovely fruit flower made up of pineapple and a grape that I soon bit into the shape of a heart because because.

 Always fun bumping into fellow local bloggers. Grenada Soul Adventurer was there kicking butt as per usual as seen behind the camera in the photo above.

Musing :: Style : Hip

Dress:: Gifted Watch: Thrifted Knotted Necklace: Mother acquired. Lipstick: Mac Cyber and Mac Ruby Woo

 My fun little mod outfit was warn on mothers day. This year my mother decided she wanted to go to a concert. Granted I was very tired from having completed so much school work the past day and honestly I just wanted to sleep for days. The stress alone had been exhausting.

These mothers day outings have become very special to me. They began as just me trying to fit into being a new adult, wanting to take my mother out with the money I had worked for, to celebrate the work she had done all through out my life to get me safely to the other side of education; the work force.

Now I am an adult though, now we do it because it's simply this fun thing that we do. We go out and we laugh and we live and remember that we have done so together. I love affording my mother an opportunity she can show off with if she s chooses because she deserves it.

I have been uniquely aware lately of how life is changing in irreparable ways....how not long from now all that we will remember is a memory of a memory as we proceed to get older and older...

I keep seeing so many things surfing around the internet about how this is a sad day for so many people and I feel that makes me very sad. It also makes me very appreciative that I don't have to feel that sadness today...not yet. Maybe that sounds a bit morbid but I want to laugh as much as I can with her before I cant any more...

I wore this dress, a birthday gift with boots. I always forget that I don't like short things. I've no desire to be in the public eye in a sexual way but I do like being comfortable and this was a very comfortable dress. Aside from the length. It's got a lining and long sleeves which kept me warm. I soon squared away the length problem with my jacket haha. Definitely a ware with leggings situation next time!

Musing :: Style : Play Time!

Skirt by modcloth

I spent ALL of my weekend at the end of February reading and working hard so I could go to a play. Struggle by Francis U. Peters. It's my idea of BIG fun as a literature enthusiast. I packed so much work into that weekend I honestly barely remember it as days, it just seems like a series of readings to me now.

Balancing work and play is all the more difficult when it takes you longer to work than most. By the time I was through with my assignments, running out the door with my accessories in my hand to be adorned in the car, I began to wonder if it was worth it at all.

It's easy to loose yourself under the weight of responsibility. Growing changes a person and hopefully for the better but sometimes, all the learning makes you forget some of the good parts of yourself too. The parts that are foundational. We have to protect those parts because as you grow they are really fragile. They could be easily broken, lost under books and essays and ways to do them better and before you know it...you might not remember how to do them at all.

I'm really glad I went running to that play.

It's always hard to figure what to wear to a play but my golden rule is better over dressed than under.

The play ran for two days in the capital. I went on the last night, as opposed to the first, which is what I usually do. I'll likely be writing my thoughts on the show a little later, likely next week after it plays on the other side of the island.


Meanwhile, it's back to work for me on the road to graduation!

Musing :: Style : Behind the Scenes of Brand Photoshoot Kalla Lou

 I recently had the opportunity to shoot with local artist and photograph Susan Mains (in the picture above on the left) for the Brand Kalla Lou. Kalla Lou makes beautiful designed jewellery with recyclable material. The owner, Daniela, (in the picture above on the right) hired me for a photo shoot so showcase her her product on her etsy page. I've not any photos that I can showcase yet until the page goes up but I must say it was a beautiful day, spent with beautiful boss ladies that inspired me with every second I spend with them. Also showcased above is my floral dress designed my local designer Cleopatrice Andrews, perfect spring feel yes? What else do you where to a garden? haha

This house, called The Tower has a story in it and I'm fixin' to write it down!
