Musing :: NOTD : Freshly Minted

So I finally found a polish that gives me a minty shade and I love it! I thought I wouldn't as it took me so long, years in fact, to find a mint shade but even still when I look down at it on my nails it gives me joy.  Yes I know they're all chippy already but oh aren't they dreamy?!

Musing :: NOTD : Speckled Easter Eggs

This really should have gone up earlier but connectivity problems and all so do forgive. Anywho, I've finally gotten around to painting my nails a none neutral. I'd been doing that for just about the last three months. It was easiler that way during practicum, aint nobody got time for painting their nails when you're trying to be amazing on purpose. I mean, it's one thing to be amazing when you don't know it's happening but when you're trying to be purposeful about it?! Forget nerves! I know they've already chipped but what ya gonna do?

When i first did this look I hated it.I got this bottle of dotted top coat polish (which is what I'm calling it cause i don't know the actual term) months ago and have been so anxious to try it out but didn't know what i wanted to peer it with at the time. Nobody ever tells you how hard it is to get those speckles out of a bottle of clear liquid polish thingy they're submerged in!

It's Easter and I'm very excited! I like to think of it as Christmas. A calendared time when we religious lot celebrate the most amazing sacrifice.

Also there are Easter eggs. I don't have any, the two i did manage to score i gave away to students while being amazing haha Ah only my stomach regrets it not my heart so it's okay ultimately :)

Musing : NOTD : Pumpkin Cream

It's been a long time since I really painted my nails with much consistency. Honestly it just hasn't been on my mind. My days and mind are usually filled with so much that when I look down at my hands during the beginning of another week only to sometimes realise there is only bits of polish on nails in a helter-skelter patches, I'd be lying if I said I was particularly bothered. I've really got much bigger fish to fry than peoples opinions about my chipped nails as I rush from class to class.

I love this colour!! I almost forgot I had it really, it's called 'Pumpkin Cream' and it really does remind me of delicious pumpkin soup, which is very much on my mind lately. I was going to do a fun seasonal design but then I broke my 15 year old bottle of Qurius Yellow polish and was very sad because I loved that shade and can't cant get my hands on a new one at the moment . :( I suppose it's just another lesson in the truth: that even the beloved bits of our lives can break and be lost forever. A bit of a morbid lesson I know but don't hate the playah hate the game bruh....

I've also taken to grabbing a photo before I do my final nail clean up because if I don't grab it in that moment when I'm forced to be still lest I smudge them, I feel like I'll never get it! I'm extremely easily distracted after all made only worse by the multitude of things I have to do. My brain is on fire!

Musing :: NOTD : Breast Cancer Awareness

Good morning and happy Friday! Did you know that it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month? The boobies are something that are very important to me and this cause in particular has a special place in my heart as at a very young age I was made to be reminded that any disease could hit at any time.

There is no time limit or age limit to ill-health, it does not discriminate class nor creed nor any other distinguishing groupings we set for ourselves. This is the case with most sicknesses i acknowledge, this cause however, has a personal affect on my heart given past experience.

So if you haven't yet, check the gals (your own please I don't think you can read blogs from prison) for abnormal lumps, just to be safe.

Musing :: NOTD : White Out

I can't believe it's been this long since I've posted an notd. If I'm honest I became so determined to make sure my toes were done all through summer for a change I kind of neglected my hands in exchange. I didn't mind it much though. Sometimes it's nice to break routine I suppose.

This month I did this, guided by another cutepolish tutorial.I know I know they're not perfectly symmetrical but life aint perfect and that makes my visually impaired self appreciate them all the more. The jagged look is growing on me, though I accept it's not everybody's cup a tea. Also sorry for the weird nail polish photo claw haha. Haven't done that in a while!

This was my second attempted gradient nails look with a make up sponge and hope. It's not the best but I still really enjoyed having them.

That makes two months in a row I've had my nails in white polish and I must say I'm really coming to like it more and more! It feels so clean, crisp and professional. I'd always heard that white nails lent themselves to a professional concept but I was never convinced until now.

Maybe one more white nail design and then you know it's time for CHRISTMAS nails! Aw yeh, that's whassup. :)

Musing :: NOTD : Bright Side of Life

The 17th of April was my birthday.

I had a lovely little time with people i love. The day had it's ups and downs but isn't that a summarisation of life it self? I did my nails in some of the brightest colours i own, orange, florcent pink and yellow. All these colours are colours i generally hate. When did i come to love them so much? (well at least in nailpolish, they still make my eyes hurt on clothes. Thanks photopobia! )

Isn't it crazy how much we can change even while we're looking? I have this theory that we only come to know change after it happens...

Musing :: NOTD : Color Club Special Effects

Hope everyone had a happy Christmas and if you have it, boxing day holiday. Mine was quiet and full of rainy storming weather; it was wonderful.

The eve was spent loving on some of my favorite people and just generally trying to remain happy, healthy and thankful for my blessings.

I really like this polish even though its a plain look but time for everything under the sun i suppose :) It is definitely one of my favorite colour club buys! Not matte it has a beautiful festive shine to it and has a nice dark tone. I hope you felt good and loved these past holidays ♥

Musing :: NOTD : Peppermint Candy Cane

Post finals time on my hands so i got some seasonal nail action going on. Ah i 've so much to do...so much i've neglected while focusing on grades. You think you allow yourself some time to focus on non school achievements and then the semester ends and you realise that no matter how many tiny breaks you took, there is still so much to deal with and catch upon...

Ah well, one day at a time of waking up and realizing i don't have an assignment to draft or notes to read...

I'm impatient to get my time back to focusing on me relaxing and regaining my centre of soul gravity, so i've already started planning to get the work out of the way. Room cleaning has begun and planning out the rest of the vacation likewise :)

You know what that means right?

Musing :: NOTD : L.A Colors Fun In The Sun

This is just a variation on my last nail look, as I'm sure you can tell from the reappearance of my checkered nail but what can i say? I really liked it and wasn't ready to change it... Though its well weather beaten now...

School starts for me again anytime from now so i imagine my nail looks will begin to slow once more.

I've been a little moody this week...i felt this look represented how i felt well with a flash of light colour here and there in the midst of the darkness... Plus back to my black polish was somehow comforting. Hope you had a good week and there was light in the midst of your darkness. ♥

Musing :: NOTD : Watermelon Nails in Color Club Wild Flower

Did this look with my new polish Color Club - Wild Flower. I've really come to love Color Club polish shades :) While I've done watermelon nails before i still find it fun, especially during the summer time when school is out and i don't have to worry about my nails distracting the kiddies

 

This red is so odd but i like it because it truly reminds me of that dark pinky redish colour of watermelon.

Yum, watermelon. I also used a blank and a white striper and Qurius in Green Apple.

Musing :: NOTD : Summer Sunset

I wanted to do this kind of nail look for sometime but i could not find the right sponge to get the effect and honestly still didn't, thus the super messiness. It kept leaving bits of sponge on the nail but i still ended up digging the look :)

Musing :: NOTD : Summer Fire

Hey guys sorry this post is super late.

It's not quite summer break for me yet, I've two finals next week and SOOOOO much studying to do!

One thing is for sure though, I can already feel the heat of summer, it's some hot Caribbean days round here, the excitement and the fire to live that summer time births in your spirit is there too...driving me towards these super bright orange nails! I can not wait for next week Friday! Then I will truly be free!

You know aside from having to plan for next school term and a few Sunday school lessons that is. :) 

But there will be time for that lot, first I need to sink my teeth into my Summer To-do list!

Is it just me or do you feel different when its summer time too?

Musing :: NOTD : Black Nail Polish

When i was younger i went through a stage where all i wore was black nail polish, sure i was fascinated by goth culture and yes my personal style is preferred with some punk to it but that was not the only reason at all...  The fact of the matter is i realized with my light skin the darker colours looked exquisite on me! (in my opinion) and my experience with black nail polish was my gateway into that realization. Plus, come on, how classy is black ware?!

  It was one of my first instances openly breaking social boundaries as well. For some reason people are of the opinion that black polish and a liking for going all black wardrobe wise and the like represents evil and witch craft, at least where i am from. I got a lot of heat for it form the illiterate to the intellectual...

At which point i made it my duty to engage these people in conversation about why they thought this way. There excuses were flimsy and sad honestly and were a long the lines that 'because black it represents darkness and gloom and dirt!' at which point i would often take the moment to point out to these people that they are categorized under the 'black' race or at least shared the earth with people who do. I was then greeted with shock and surprise that i could see a connections between the negative mentality between the colour black and the perception they held towards anything that held it's likeness whether that was self or style.

Isn't it funny how we can stand behind something the origin of which we do not understand, hating it and condemning all others for not following sooth?

I love the shade black, one it complements me and two it stands as a constant reminder that perception decides meaning. This shade by L.A. Girl is my favorite, look how shiny it is!! That's not white streak that's just shine! Wore this look to a funeral this week, my little way of saying that even in this dark moment, may the reflections of her light continue to shine in us.

R.I.P you wonderful wonderful woman, I don't know when i will truly believe that you are gone...off to be welcomed into the arms of our loving heavenly Father whom you well served ♥

Musing :: NOTD : Classic Fav

Pink used to be my favorite colour. I think it was the longest running, from the age of about 11 to 18-19?

Now Blue is absolutely my favorite. I remember someone asking me a long time ago when i told them 'Which blue?' and i tilted my head to the side and answered thinking 'The colour of the night sky...' Though why do i have to choose? That's another of the things i happen to love about the colour, it comes in SO MANY many shades!

This is one of my favorite nail looks, i re-created it for my birthday (i showed you the other hand last week remember?) i can never get enough of it, it feels so me!Done in Color Club 'Pink In Love' and a random brand called 'Blue My Mind' :)

Musing :: NOTD : punk & pink

 Really wanted to show these before they were completely gone, i did them for my birthday, my way of meshing my two favorite styles prep + punk. Was very simple to accomplish with my Color Club Pink - In Love and a black striper.

Too bad it turned into a disaster before i could take the picture! Ah well! More on what i wore and the like in a later post. Meanwhile thank you to those of you who wished me happiness for my birthday, you are appreciated! ♥

Musing :: NOTD : Purple & Gold

Okay truth is i had no idea what to call this look, so lets just call it what it is: purple & Gold.

 I accidentally went shopping this week, you know, when you head into town with no intention of finding things, not even with the intention of looking for things and then boom! You find things you've been looking for for so long!

 I was very excited to try these new polishes i bought, the first of which is this one by a brand called 'L.A. Girl' Anyone know them, or are they just a knock off of L.A. Color?

 It's supposedly a magnetic polish, which just added to my excitement! It has this tiny cap at the top of the,well..cap! That you slip off and you're supposed to hold over your nail to make the pattern in the picture. Well, it hasn't worked honestly. I can't say i am utterly gutted over it though as i am positively in love with this shade of purple fancy metallic design or no...or maybe I'm just doing it wrong?

I also snatched up this gold glitter polish, i've been looking for one for AGES! This one is completely satisfactory, so much shimmer in one coat! Love it!

Musing :: NOTD : Valentine's Day Nails ♥

Hi Everyone! I love you. Here, have these big love filled hugs on me!

Every year i say I'm not going to do Valentine's Day nails, every year i change my mind. I always get so intrigued by making an attempt! This was taken as soon as i was finished, not too impressive i know and rather pre-clean up. I was rushing out the door again and knew i had to take that picture quickly as that pale pink polish i own is really crappy and chips like it's life depends on it!

How was your Valentine's Day? I know I've quite a bit to say on that subject but I'll leave that for a Musing Mind post...so look out for that soon! :)

Musing :: NOTD : Independence Day Nails

Independence decorations up at KFC!

Do forgive me, photobucket is being rather full of nonsense changing their things about for no reason, i'm not happy about it and haven't acquainted myself properly yet so if my pictures look a bit odd that is why.

Independence Day in my country is well on it's way (Feb 7th!) so i did my nails up, our national colours are red - for the passion of our people, green - for our fertile soil and gold - for our caribbean sunshine! Though i doubt they will last as long as without getting chippy...forgive the messiness too, this is pre clean up and i was running out the door to a poetry reading so....

I'm always looking for a chance to paint my nails in my pretty pastel yellow polish, i simply love that shade! Almost as much as i love painting them orange! Yet the colour can be distracting to the school kiddies so...it's usually a no go. Want them focused on school work not Teacher's NOTD! However independence is here so it can come out to play for a bit!

Was able to grab a shot before i left, in the glow of the sunset and on my way home, thus the uh, glow of the florescent lighting? Though i like my previous independence nails more, my glitter red stripper has dried up :( One of my favorite rarities that this dear rock does not have, oh bother!

One of the things i absolutely love the most about Independence time festivities is seeing the buntings go up everywhere all over the capital city! They are such a pleasure for me as i spend most of my days  being shuttled from bus to bus as i get to my schools. When I'm feeling exhausted and start looking about out the window i can see them either gracefully swaying or rapidly flapping in the upcoming Easter winds against our amazingly brilliant Caribbean blue sky....

I love that i never ever see them littering the ground either after the 7th, the cultural ministries of the government puts them up cleanly at dusk and i suppose takes them down just as silents? Yay keeping the environment clean and healthy!

Musing :: NOTD : L.A. Colour in Sea Siren

Hey guys. So i was actually going to take a break from painting my nails this week. Sometimes i think it's nice to do them one week in and one week out, just to give them a chance to be natural and healthy :). I must admit though, I'm glad i didn't, it gave me a chance to experiment with being a little creative with my picture taking of them. (I see one New Year Resolution that's going to be easy to keep!) Now while I'm sure this is my 'Splash' I'm going to recheck in the morning because i think I've mixed up the names of two of my close colours  Um! yeah so...as i was saying, L.A. Color in Sea Siren


Totally came out of no where but i started musing different ways of showing the same concept only with a different layout. So as a strolled out the house and off to get the bus i noticed these pretty little yellow flowers coming up on the side of the road...


I figured I'd stop and give them a little spotlight cameo on my blog! What do you think?


Then again as i rode the bus i wondered what my little phone camera could capture in motion. I must say I'm pleased. I like that blurred background effect i got out of it.


I became so amused and as i always, i became surprised as to the level of beauty just constantly swirling around us in day to day life. Just sitting beneath our focus, on the side of the road..just blurring past us, beside us as we travel from one state of being to the next


Crazy little musing life we lead. Today a friend of mine was recounting to me something he herd in his childhood that left a ripple effect on his life. "No matter what happens to you in your life, no matter what you do, you are just a drop in the ocean of the universe"

Um. wow?!
